The challenge

A standby generator needed to come out of a walled plant yard at Bowen Hills and be re-set on a pad across town. The building couldn't lose power during business hours, the laneway was one-way and narrow, and overhead services ran across the only possible set-up position.

How we did it

We planned the lift as an after-hours job, confirmed the rigging points and the load's centre of gravity with the site electrician, then set up clear of the overhead services and lifted the unit vertically out of the yard and onto the tray. The same truck carried it to the second site and set it straight onto the new pad.

The outcome

The generator was out, across town and bolted down on its new pad before morning, with no disruption to the building and no second machine needed at either end.
